Save the Date! The Red Wheelbarrow Readings
Featuring Marian Calabro and Josh Humphrey
Wednesday, April 2, 2025, 7 PM
Dear poet,
Join us on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 7 p.m. at The Felician University Little Theater, 230 Montross Avenue, Rutherford, NJ 07070, for a fantastic poetry reading, featuring the poets Marian Calabro and Josh Humphrey, plus the best open mic in New York and New Jersey.
At the reading, we will have the features’ books for sale, as well as copies of RWB #17 in case you don’t have one. Please see Arthur to get your copy or order online here.
MARIAN CALABRO writes poetry, essays, plays, and history books, the most notable of which is The Perilous Journey of the Donner Party. Her work has been broadcast on NPR, produced at community theaters in Manhattan and Bergen County, and published in venues ranging from The New York Times to The Metuchen Times, as well as in each edition of the Rutherford Red Wheelbarrow annual anthology. Marian is a lifelong New Jerseyan and a graduate of the first class of women admitted to Rutgers College. She also leads creative writing workshops through the Adult School at the Montclair (NJ) Public Library.
JOSH HUMPHREY was born and bred in Kearny, New Jersey. His career as a librarian, which is into its second decade, has been the source of much poetry in his life. Music, books, and cake have been the source of much joy. Recently, his poems have been published in Open Doors, New Feathers, US1 Worksheets and Southeast Review. As a contributor to the Moving Words project, some of his work will soon be made into a short film.
To get to The Little Theater from New York City, follow the instructions below. You can use this link to plan the trip from NYC to Rutherford (select "Towns" tab): https://www.njtransit.com/bus-to
Directions to take the 190 bus from NYC
Go to the Port Authority Bus Terminal on 40 street & 8th Avenue. If you take the subway, the A and C are the closest. Buy a ticket in advance for the 190 express bus to Rutherford, Zone 3, at the window or from the machines (you can't buy from the driver). One adult ticket costs $5.15.
Go to Gate 232 (upstairs); there might be a line as it will be rush hour by the time you get there. Get on the Rutherford Express line (second door). The reading starts at 7 p.m., but we recommend getting on the bus around 6 p.m. to account for traffic in the Lincoln Tunnel.
Tell the driver you need to get off at Montross Avenue, and they will stop there. It's the 3rd bus stop after the Rutherford Train Station. If you get to Carmita Avenue, that's too far.
The Little Theater is just a short walk from the bus stop uphill on Montross Avenue. Cross Union Avenue and walk uphill on Montross about 5 minutes. The building is in the back of a large parking lot across from Felician University.
See you all in person on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 7 PM.
